Great News for our American Friends, The border is reopening on Aug. 9th, to double vaccinated people. It has been 17 months since the closure for Covid 19. We welcome our clients and home owners back to Whistler! If there is anything we can do for you to open up your home for you for arrival, just let us know. This is the best news we have heard in awhile. Whistler and Pemberton are smoke free at the moment, the forest fires are mainly in the interior of BC. You may want to check out the forest fires situations online if you are planning to travel other than to Whistler or Pemberton. The words we are hearing is that Real Estate Market in both Whistler and Pemberton is cooling a little bit. There is definitely some talk about slowing markets in the lower mainland and around BC. However, I think with the news today that the US border is opening on Aug. 9th and the International Travellers allowed Sept. 7th we will see the same robust market we’ve had for so many months. We saw 24 sales in Whistler and 4 in Pemberton this past week, this is pretty normal for the past few weeks. ‘Everyone’s working towards this common goal of feeding the whole town’
The Pemberton Fruit Tree project has returned to spread even more sweetness throughout the valley this summer.
Launched in 2016, the project was created in an effort to reduce human-bear conflict in and around Pemberton while simultaneously connecting people with excess fruit with those who need it. The gist: Landowners who are unable to pick the fruit on their property can register their trees with the project’s coordinator. When the fruit is ripe, volunteers swoop in to clear the branches. That fruit is then divided into thirds and shared equally between the property owner, volunteers and local organizations—for example, the Food Bank, Pemberton Seniors Society, Pemberton Healthy Pregnancy Outreach Program and Signal Hill Elementary School’s Breakfast and Lunch Club Program, to name just a few.
