Greetings from Whistler and Pemberton,
November has arrived, and there’s a definite feeling of excitement in Whistler as we look ahead to another winter season! The surrounding mountains have received their first snowfall, bringing beautiful snow-capped peaks above the last of the autumn colours in the valley. On my way home from Whistler this evening, I couldn’t resist pulling over to capture the stunning view of Whistler and Blackcomb across beautiful Green Lake.
November is a wonderful time to enjoy Whistler’s dining scene! Many of our favourite restaurants are offering their fall dining specials, making it the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy some fabulous food. A few of my personal favourites to check out are Rimrock, Araxi and Wild Blue.
And for all the food and wine lovers, Cornucopia returns November 5–15! Whistler’s annual celebration of food and drink brings together incredible culinary experiences, tastings and special events. It’s always a fun time to be in town! You can explore the full lineup at www.whistlercornucopia.com.
Looking at this week’s real estate activity, Whistler recorded 21 new listings and 15 sales, with fresh opportunities for buyers and continued activity as we head into November.
On the financial front, last week’s Bank of Canada announcement confirmed a 0.25% increase in the overnight interest rate to 2.50%, marking the first rate hike since 2023 and the first change in a year. The decision reflects ongoing concerns about inflation and rising costs, with the Bank indicating that further increases may be considered. Interest rates continue to be an important factor for buyers and sellers, and we’ll be keeping an eye on how things unfold in the months ahead.
