Greetings from Whistler,
It just keeps snowing on the mountain! 2 days of glorious sunshine and then back to snow, 26 cm in the last 24 hours. I hope you can get some skiing in the last few weeks of the season. This weekend the Whistler Ski and Snowboard Festival begins. April 7-16 WSSF, World Ski & Snowboard Festival is a 10-day annual celebration of snowsports, music, arts and mountain life, come and have some fun.
The first quarter unit sales volume is down for the first three months of this year, and, as a result of consistent demand, average prices are up. Monthly sales volume was approx. the same as in February 2017 at about 80 sold units in Whistler and 13 in Pemberton. Both, however, are below the same month a year ago. The total number of sales is down about 30% as compared to a year ago. But, as the number of listings are also down by a significant amount this should not be surprising. The good news is that it still higher than 2014 and 2015.
Average transaction values have jumped significantly as compared to a year ago and have risen since the beginning of the year. Once again this would be an expected outcome given market characteristics. The average transaction value has risen over 13% to $1,025,323.00 in Whistler and the average transaction value in Pemberton is currently $452,728.00. All major categories have seen average sales value gains over the last 12 months as a result of the strength of this Seller’s market.
