Greetings from Whistler,
Whistler in the Spring! It is just so beautiful here with the snow on the mountains and the bluebird skies, today is stellar. I’m going to fit 9 holes of golf in later this afternoon in Pemberton. Or, should I tell you that? The most important message is that the Meadows Golf Course is open and Big Sky is opening this weekend. The Festivals are starting with Go FestMay 18-21, the Victoria Day Long Weekend. Enjoy 4 days of outdoor adventures, concerts, movies, arts and culture events, even a Dog Training Course. Free weekend concerts kick-off on May 18th with the Outdoor Summer Concert Series, come and join us!
I have to say that 19 sales in Whistler and 7 sales in Pemberton is pretty impressive for the market we have right now. Many of these deals were put together a few weeks ago and now they are firm deals. The new policies, tax implications and interest rate increases are creating a less certain environment which is impacting decision making causing a slight cooling in our market. Based on the *MLS system there were 66 sales in April in Whistler and Pemberton compared to 96 in March and 94 in the same month in 2017. Year to date total number of sales in Whistler is down 14% and 15% in Pemberton. In 2017, there were 312 sales to date and this year 268. Average days on the market for Chalets 137, Condo’s 57 and Townhomes 30 days. Average price for Chalets is $1,679,100, Condo’s $596,300 and Townhomes $1,091,500.
